"Vitamin B(6) supplementation improves pro-inflammatory response in patients with rheumatoid arthritis"

The aim of this study was to examine if vitamin B-6 supplementation had an effect on inflammatory and immune response with patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

  • 35 patients were selected for this study, and allocated into two groups.
  • Control group took folic acid only, while the treatment group took Vitamin B(6) with Folic Acid.
  • Length of study period lasted 12 weeks.
  • While there were no significant changes with immune response, results showed that in the group receiving vitamin B(6), plasma IL-6 and TNF-alpha levels significantly decreased at week 12.
