The Anamu plant has been used throughout South and Central America as a strong antioxidant that has yielded results in maintaining cellular health.

In a study of 1400 plants, the University of Illinois at Chicago identified Anamu as one of 34 plans possessing active properties that support cell health. Dibenzyl trisulfide was one of two active compounds in Anamu, and Anamu was found to also contains phytochemicals such as benzaldehyde, astilbin and coumarin.  Thus, the mechanism by which Anamu, as a dietary ingredient, supports a healthy body is by acting to maintain the healthy structure or function of the cells.
