Details

Cat's Claw is normally found in the Amazon and was named for the claw-like thorns on its branches. In traditional herbal cultures, it has been used as an anti inflammatory for pain relief for arthritic conditions and as an antioxidant to support a strong immune system. Antioxidants help the body to eliminate free radicals that can damage cells. Cat's Claw has also been used for a variety of purposes from ulcers to wound healing. More information can be found at the University of Maryland website.

Cat's claw has been documented to contain alkaloids and flavonoids. Alkaloids from plants have notable physiological actions on humans. One example of an alkaloid is morphine, which was the first alkaloid to be isolated from a plant. Alkaloids in Cat's Claw (quinovic acid glycosides) have been documented to have anti-inflammatory properties (1). Flavonoids function as antioxidants and have been documented to have a profound effect on immune function (2) . As antioxidants, flavonoids regenerate vitamin C, help to inhibit clotting (thin the blood) and have been found to have anti-tumor actions in certain models. Remedy's Organic Cat's Claw uses only certified product from the rain forest and contains no fillers or additives.
