Hypothyroidism: How to Identify Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism: There is almost an epidemic of this condition around the world! Hypothyroidism occurs when the thyroid produces a low level of the thyroid hormones which are chiefly responsible for metabolism, or you have malabsorption of the Thyroid Hormones. A deficiency in iodine can trigger this condition but the medical fraternity is at a loss to explain why we are seeing an increased frequency of hypothyroidism despite the fact that iodization of salt is now prevalent everywhere. Hypothyroidism is difficult to spot till the symptoms are aggravated: these include fatigue, depression, modest weight gain, cold intolerance, excessive sleepiness, dry, coarse hair and constipation. The sure fire way is to take your basil temp (before you get out of bed in the am) and if it is chronically below 97.5 you are suffering from hypothyroidism.

In my practice you must first look at the blood work and ask: Am I producing the hormone or not absorbing it? If you are not producing enough, Amour Thyroid and Thyroid Support do well. If it is malabsorption (slow oxidation) detox, detox, detox.
