Many associate the scent of Cinnamon with fall and the smell of pumpkin pies. Cinnamon is a bark from trees of the genus cinnamomum in the lauraceae family, and it has been used for making incense and perfumes from the ancient past to our time. Cinnamon's popularity ranges from supporting healthy blood sugar to making breath smell sweet.
Cinnamon bark essential oil is particularly potent. When used for application to the skin, it should be diluted in a carrier oil. Personal skin sensitivity will determine the tolerance, but always start with small amounts as Remedy's essential cinammon oil is in its pure and undiluted state. Try a small amount; start with three drops in a teaspoon of a carrier oil such as grapeseed oil. Internal use of cinnamon oil is recommended only under the supervision of your healthcare professional.
Cinnamon oil is anti-bacterial and antioxidant. Cinnamon oil can thin the blood and is useful as a topical rub for arhtritic pains when diluted in a carrier oil. Cinnamon oil is anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antidiabetic and is reported to exert activity in neurological disorders, to name a few. There are 41 volatile compounds in cinnamon oil which account for its many properties. Among its better-known chemical constituents are Eugenol, (E)-cinnamaldehyde, and linalool.
