Arthritis: A Disease or Symptom?

For many the pain and suffering of arthritis is a very real and painful way of life. However, a readjustment in the way the medical field treats arthritis is not only needed but is in crisis.  If you really go by the definition of what is a disease: a specific disorder of a structure of a specific area of the body, arthritis should rightly be classified as a symptom?

Why is this important, to clarify the classification between disease and symptom?  In order to correctly treat arthritis it origin must be clearly defined and the contributing factors identified. The difference between causation and result if not defined, reversal of these symptoms and eventually the disease can never be cured.

What is Arthritis?

Arthritis is a malabsorption infirmity that is exemplified by a lack of common minerals, such as calcium, sodium, magnesium, potassium and vitamins such as B, C, A, and D.  Far too often we check for the amount of the nutrients in a blood test, but we never check if the body has the capacity to utilize the nutrients. This is what is referred to as the Oxidation Rate, the body’s ability to absorb nutrients.  The disposition of the thyroid and adrenal glands must be taken into consideration, as well as diet, enzymatic activity, acidity levels in the digestive tract, as well as medications. This is why when dealing with arthritis a qualified Register Dietician that truly understands the interfaces of the digestive tract is imperative.

What to do?

Do I simply need to increase or decrease my metabolism and oxidation rate? No, excessive oxidation rates or Fast Oxidizers can actually be more harmful due to the bio-unavailability of nutrients.  A slow oxidation rate is usually signified by a slow thyroid and/or adrenal gland. When this occurs you may have a loss of sodium and potassium, then a loss of the ability to suspend other minerals due to Potassium and Sodium literally being mineral solvents, which in turn causes for an amplification of Magnesium and Calcium in the soft tissue of the body.  All of this results in Calcium depositing into the joints and thus causing arthritis.

An illustration: Have you ever known someone that all the symptoms of a slow thyroid and there blood test for hypothyroidism comes back normal?  Usually in the medical community we just let the patients suffer and tell them that there is nothing that can be done due to having “subclinical hypothyroidism”.  Simply take your temperature in the morning before you get out of bed, and in the temperature is low, you have hypothyroidism. You must STOP! now and verify the oxidation rate of the thyroid and adrenal hormones.

If this is the case with you, detox, take digestive enzymes, lay off the heavy meats, and drink sufficient water.  Additionally, get a Tissue Mineral Analysis for a reputable Dietician or Doctor that understand Oxidation Rates. Ask the doctor, “How important is the oxidation rate in you practice?”  If he stumbles or disregards you comment, go to someone that will listen intently to your concerns.

Arthritis: Symptom or Disease?  This is the same as the question: which came first the chicken or the egg? Simply put, arthritis is a result of malabsorption or infection that can often be rectified with proper care and nutrition.  It is a symptomatic infirmity that leads to the disease process. Simple right?
